2022.01.18 05:02 Pol_Owina Price Ræport: AE price is still in a nasty downtrend, as is most of the crypto market. Hopefully we have touched the bottom at around 0.1$ and will soon begin trending upwards again! January has not been good to cryptocurrencies. February should bring some better price action. What do you think?

2022.01.18 05:02 CATaclysmicCynosure H3TVEthan+late night musings
Name the channel H3TVEthan and start every video like VSauce: hey foot soldiers, Ethan here.
Alternative 1: Just name it Ethan Klein. It's Ethan's world and we are just living in it
Alternative 2: H1TV. No Dan, just one singular Ethan alone in his basement. One may be the loneliest number but at least there's no Dan. (Peace and love peace and love)
Alternative 3: Foot King.
Alternative 4: fat man bad.
Alternative 5: Wendy Williams. Identity theft is not a joke but that doesn't mean it's not funny
Alternative 6: H3TVBasementEdition. Did I mention this was filmed in my basement?
Alternative 7: H3Talks. Like The View but all 4 ladies are Ethan with his hair combed in a slightly different direction
Alternative 8: keep the name H3TV and use the same branding as the podcast but just in a slightly different color. A week or two down the line, the podcast can sue Ethan for copyright of the branding. A third channel H3vsH3Productions can be created to broadcast updates on the lawsuit.
Alternative 9: Papa Bless. Start each episode with a prayer and switch up who you are praying to.
Alternative 10: I ran out of ideas but I really wanted this list to go to 10 😘
Thank you and goodnight

2022.01.18 05:02 Moose_Cheese Compression and new heads?
Hi, I'm rebuilding a 350 for my '86 C1500 and part of my process requires replacing the pistons. Summit sells two different pistons that I am looking at, and the only difference is one set has a compression height of 1.560 in and the other is 1.540 in. I'm pretty new to calculating compression, I'm just trying to get the most ideal setup that will allow for a cam. I'm looking at the COMP XE262h. Planning on upping my compression on the stock 350 for that cam to run better by getting thinner head gaskets (Fel-Pro steel shim 0.015 thickness) and changing these pistons.
I don't understand compression height well enough to know the right set. I have 991 stock heads which are supposedly around 75 cc and am also deciding if it's worth just upgrading to vortec heads and calling it a day. I'm only hesitant to do that because I already have a decent intake for the stock heads and the 991's are in good condition. Budget makes me slow to make expensive decisions.
So I guess I am asking a couple things. Would the 1.560 height provide higher compression? And are the 991 heads runnable with this cam? Not looking for crazy power either obviously but if vortec heads are much better with power and fuel economy I might go for those.

2022.01.18 05:02 AusLeviathan Remembering the 22 months, 500 applications and 6 interviews I went through to get my first full time job
I was thinking about this recently and thought it might be a good story to share here.
So a few years ago I graduate Uni with an Accounting degree. I first made sure to let the Student Coordinator who'd told me to give up on the degree because I "didn't have what it takes to complete it" that he was wrong before starting my job search.
Applying for jobs seemed simple at first until I realized that no matter how many applications I sent out I never seemed to get any responses back. Even setting my sights on the lowest paying and least experience required jobs I could find like minimum wage Admin Assistant jobs seemed to get me nowhere.
Five months in I finally get my first response from a Tax Accountant who asks me to come in for a interview. All seems good, he's happy to give me a receptionist job during tax time which is something. I'm invited to the orientation two weeks later where everyone at the firm is introducing themselves and going over their plans and 30 minutes in the owner lets me know that he doesn't actually have a role for me because one of his office's isn't opening this year. I would've preferred not having to waste that night but at least he didn't wait until the end to tell me.
My second interview was for a part time Bookkeeper role in a woman's dirty basement. I turned up to the interview where she let me know she was very selective and had 50 interviews set up over the next five days. We spent an hour as she asked me the most basic questions imaginable whilst continually showing me her clipboard where she'd ticked off the questions against the other candidates names. I didn't get that job but considering I spotted mold in the basement (which was also going to be the work area) I wasn't too sad about that.
The third interview was for an Assistant Accountant role at a pet food company. This one actually went well, both interviewers seemed happy with me, they brought in there boss to meet me who also seemed happy with me, they told me that they'd be in touch tomorrow and one of them gave me a wink as I left. They then never contacted me again and ghosted all attempts to get in contact with them about the role.
My fourth interview was another Assistant Accountant role at a Lawyers. This one also seemed to go well and I did get feedback this time. Unfortunately that feedback was that they felt that I didn't have even a basic knowledge of Accounting and that I should look for different roles. At this point I'd been searching for a job for 20 months and I took their advice and stopped applying for anything other than basic admin assistant or customer service work.
The fifth interview I had was for a customer service role in a call center. Disappointingly the office they'd advertised the role at wasn't where the call center actually was and I found out during the interview that it was two hours away from where I lived but I was desperate at that point so I still tried during the interview. Didn't get the job or any feedback.
Finally not long after that I got a call for an Assistant Accountant role I'd applied for three months previously. I had no energy or hope left at this point so when I attended the interview I gave the most basic answers without putting much thought into it. I ended up getting hired, it turned out that HR had insisted that the role required an Accounting degree and after their first and second choices had gotten better offers they didn't have any other choices left. All other candidates were no longer interested in the role and they didn't have the budget or time to go through with another recruitment ad so I basically got hired by default.
It ended up turning out very good for me as that role gave me a pathway to a much better Analyst role and now three years on I'm on twice as much as I started at.
Basically going through that first job search really is hell but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it just might take a long time to get there.
